Microsoft plan to provide popular Office applications free online

Microsoft is planning to provide free versions of some of their popular applications to be available over the web.

The move by Microsoft is seen as a direct response to companies like Google who are already providing online versions of Office-like applications. While the service will be free Microsoft will fund the program through the use of display ads.
