Microsft to launch rival to YouTube website

Microsoft is set to launch a user-generated video service to rival the popular YouTube site.

YouTube is a site that allows users to upload videos they have produced and has recently become extremely popular. Many of the videos have been filmed with mobile phones and some have reached almost cult status on the web with many thousands of people viewing them.

In an attemp to capitalise on this popularity Microsoft is developing it's own version of the service. Soapbox will begin testing in the next few days and the aim is that it will be made available as part of the MSN Video service within the next six months.
