Google introduces warnings about sites with unsafe content

Google has started warning users of it's search engine about sites that are known to contain malicious software.

A large number of the websites returned by searching on search engines are known to contain content that could infect a PC with Spyware and other malicious software.

To help combat this threat Google are introducing a service that will warn people if they select a site known to contain harmful software from the listings returned after a Google search. At first the warnings will be very generic, just warning that the site has been flagged as being dangerous. Users will be advised to visit a different site.

As the service evolves and the sites can be examined individually, the warnings that people will see will become more specific in nature.
