Ofcom proposals could result in better rural broadband coverage

Under new plans from Ofcom rural broadband access could receive a huge boost.

Currently the roll-out of Wi-Fi networks across the country is largely limited by the available power of wireless transmission. Under new plans from the regulator Ofcom the strength of wireless signals could be boosted.

This extra power will increase the possible range of wireless signals and could mean that Wi-Fi networks will be available in areas that currently have no access to broadband internet access.
