MS develop tool to save popular files in different formats

Microsoft have developed a tool to translate the formats of files saved in their most popular Office products.

It has always been a frustration for computer users not being able to open files created with one program, in another in the original format. Firms have been working on this problem for a while, trying to come up with standards that will mean a document will look the same when opened by different applications, and applications from different vendors.

The tool, developed by Microsoft, will help with documents created with it's flagship products Word, Excel and Powerpoint and will be made available as a free download from the Microsoft site.
