Police arrest three men for alleged spread of email virus

Police have arrested three men for an alleged plot to spread a computer virus via email. The men come from Suffolk, Scotland and Finland. Detective Constable Bob Burls, of the Met Police's computer crime unit, said: "The international co-operation between the specialist law enforcement units has produced this really significant result.

The virus being spread ran on a users computer without their knowledge allowing criminals to access information on that computer.

While this story describes the malicious software as a virus, it is probably more accurate to describe it as Spyware since it displays more of the characteristics of this type of threat.
